COVID-19 SHIELD PCR Test FAQs - Español Sigue abajo
How is the test administered?
To complete the test, individuals will provide a saliva sample.
How will the COVID-19 testing work? When? Where? How often?
For those who opt into testing, it will be done once weekly in school.
Is there a cost associated with the COVID-19 PCR ?
There is no fee to families or staff for participating in the COVID-19 PCR test.
Do I need to show proof of insurance?
You do not need to show proof of insurance.
Who is the SHIELD PCR test for?
SHIELD PCR testing is available for all unvaccinated and vaccinated staff and students, but most critical for unvaccinated individuals.
Is the test mandatory?
No, the testing is optional but highly encouraged. Parents/Guardians must complete a waiver for each of their children to be tested.
Why should my child participate in the COVID-19 testing?
The goal of the COVID-19 testing program is to further reduce and prevent the spread and increase school community safety. If my child qualifies for the Test to Stay option if identified as a close contact, Shield testing consent would be required.
How and when will parents be notified if there is a positive COVID-19 screening result?
Parent(s)/Guardian(s) will ONLY be contacted in the event their child’s test comes up with a positive result.
What happens next if the child’s test is positive?
If a child has a positive test result, the District will consult with the Lake County Health Department regarding quarantine.
Who will the COVID-19 test results be shared with?
Positive screening results will be shared with the building principal and school nurse.

El objetivo del programa de pruebas de COVID-19 es reducir y prevenir la propagación y aumentar la seguridad de la comunidad escolar.
¿Cómo y cuándo se notificará a los padres si el resultado de la prueba COVID-19 es positivo?
Los padres/tutores sólo serán contactados en caso de que la prueba de su hijo tenga un resultado positivo.
¿Qué pasa después si la prueba del niño es positiva?
Si un niño tiene un resultado positivo en la prueba, el Distrito consultará con el Departamento de Salud del Condado de Lake sobre la cuarentena.
¿Con quién se compartirán los resultados de la prueba COVID-19?
Los resultados positivos de la prueba serán compartidos con el director del edificio y la enfermera de la escuela.
